Activating your ‘Happy’ Molecules (part 2)

by Ryan McTeigue on September 10, 2019

On our previous article, we talked about Dopamine, its role in the motivation and reward system that mainly takes place in the CNS particularly the brain, and how one can optimise these neurochemical to sustain focus, motivation and productivity.

The second part of our article explores two other chemicals crucial for a joyful and well-adjusted perspective and illustrates the wonders of Bliss CBD in boosting these essential peptides.

Serotonin and CBD

Serotonin is produced when you feel valued or greatly appreciated. High levels of this neurotransmitter allows us to have that great confidence and fearless attitude to explore unique experiences and initiate meaningful connections with other people.

Concomitantly, depression and loneliness are caused by low serotonin levels, as well as anxiety disorders and issues of low self-esteem. Hence, Dr. Barry Jacobs explains that a lot of antidepressants focus on the production of serotonin to elevate mood and generate a sense of well-being.

While outdoor activities can give you relevant exposure to the sun and absorb UV rays to promote vitamin D and boost serotonin production, too much ultraviolet rays isn't always good for you.

Bliss CBD is a safe and effective supplement to hack your serotonergic pathways by interacting with serotonin (5-HT) 1A receptors, to produce anxiolytic and stress-reducing effects. CBD lacks addictive and psychoactive properties, making it an interesting compound to be further investigated for other therapeutic uses. Another study also suggests that the antidepressant-like effect induced by CBD is dependent on actual serotonin levels in the central nervous system (CNS).

Taking Bliss CBD on a regular basis definitely raises serotonin amounts in the brain and the body to ensure better mood and a happy, and secure disposition.

Oxytocin and CBD

Oxytocin is a peptide hormone vital in creating intimacy and trust when building healthy relationships. It is shown to increase parental sensitivitytowards the care of their infants while other benefits of this compound include reducing fear of social betrayal in humans, at the same time increasing generosity and empathy for others. One research claims that oxytocin can efficiently inhibit fear responses by inhibiting activation of the amygdala.

More popularly known as the “love hormone” and “monogamy molecule”, oxytocin increases romantic attraction and attachment in males as well and helps promote fidelity within monogamous relationships

On the other hand, deficiency in Oxytocin secretion is often associated with social anxiety disorders and depression. In more severe cases, low levels of Oxytocin had been linked to Autism, Schizophrenia and Borderline Personality Disorder.

Bliss CBD inhibits the reuptake and breakdown of Anandamide, a molecule linked to one’s experience of bliss, which increases endocannabinoid levels. Now, through a signaling mechanism, the endocannabinoid anandamide mediates the action of Oxytocin, which in turn is crucial for social behavior, and the control of social reward.

Another research illustrated that when oxytocin receptors were blocked, it also stopped the normal pleasure and reward sensation obtained by social interactions. But amazingly, when anandamide was prevented from being degraded (one way is through the administration of Bliss CBD of course), it can completely offset the loss of social reward and pleasure observed when blocking the oxytocin receptor.

Taking Bliss CBD regularly promotes a healthy pro-social attitude, heightening the pleasure we get from social interactions and strengthening positive character traits such as warmth, trust, approachability, openness, and charity.
